Studio North is a week-long intensive building workshop hosted by Moskow Linn, an architecture firm based out of Cambridge, Massachusetts. For this project, I worked with a group of 9 other college aged students to build a rolling shade structure for workers at the Island Grown Initiative, a small farm located on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.

All participating students had to think intensively about the mechanics and stability of the structure, since the final product would be built on a frequently moving trailer. Additionally, the project involved intently listening to farmers’ needs and working at a fast but attentive pace with little room for error. The roof of the structure is made to emulate a seagull, the bird depicted on the flag of Martha’s Vineyard.
